When every state has widely varying laws and policies regarding Responsible Beverage Service (RBS), how can we assess the widely different approaches for achieving responsible alcohol sales and service?

The approach that will be taken in the Responsible Retailing Forum’s examination of RBS is to propose RBS policies for the 51st state: What policies would we propose if a state were setting up its alcohol sales laws and policies for the first time?

At RRForum’s 15th national conference in San Francisco, April 24-25, a distinguished team of researchers, RBS providers, regulators and dram shop experts will examine RBS from the multiple perspectives of RBS program content, learning objectives, public policy and the courtroom. And a real-time survey will allow all attendees to register their votes for and against model provisions of RBS in the 51st state.

In addition, the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association (NABCA) and the National Conference of State Liquor Administrators (NCSLA) will be surveying their respective members to gather information on the challenges and opportunities for improving RBS with the goal of reducing alcohol related harm.

Information on the conference is available on the RRForum website: www.rrforum.org. The conference hotel, the Sir Francis Drake Hotel has made its special room rate of $199/ the night available to participants several days before and after the conference.  A discount for early registration extends through March 24.
