TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – In recent years, studies being conducted by the American Medical Association have shown a significant decrease in alcohol sales to younger generations that are coming of age.

This impact is known as ‘the sober curious movement’ where Gen Z’ers and Millennials are making a pact to live a healthier lifestyle that is completely alcohol-free and has quickly become mainstream as more people are participating.

In 2023, it was reported by The Department of Liquor Licenses and Control that more than 20% of college students were not drinking during the school semester due to contributing factors that include mental health and rising inflation rates for the price of alcohol all together.

This movement has caused a shift in demand from some younger consumers wanting to be served alcoholic beverages to non-alcoholic options at restaurants and other venues. These options started booming post-pandemic and has been on the continuous rise as mocktails become a popular beverage.
