Revellers took to the UK’s bars and clubs as the countdown to Christmas continues, resulting in a busy night for the nation’s police officers.
Hundreds were spotted out in Newcastle city centre as festive jumpers were donned and Santa hats sported into the early hours of this morning.
In Bristol, paramedics joined in the festivities, adding a little fancy dress to their uniforms while being on-hand to provide support for those who might need it while police seemed less cheery as they moved party-goers along.
But the night was cut short for some, as officers were spotted helping those left a little worse for wear into cabs and others were carried across cobbled streets.
Helping others home no doubt proved more difficult, as some were spotted settling for benches instead of heading home to bed.
Officers were forced to intervene as one drinker lay on the floor and their friends struggled to shift them to a safer spot.
