The Distilled Spirits Council today thanked the Florida Senate Regulated Industries Committee for approving “Take Down the Wall” legislation, SB 106, by a 9-1 vote.
The legislation would allow spirits to be sold alongside beer and wine in grocery stores. Currently, retailers must segregate spirits into a separate store, which is divided by a wall.
“Today’s consumers lead hectic lives and want a modern market place where they can buy spirits, beer and wine at one location,” said Distilled Spirits Council Vice President Jay Hibbard. “We thank Senators Anitere Flores and Travis Hutson for giving consumers the convenience they want by making one-stop shopping an important step closer for Florida shoppers.”
Most states allow the sale of spirits, beer and wine in grocery stores.
The Distilled Spirits Council is the national trade association representing producers and marketers of distilled spirits sold in the United States.
